Focuses on how slums and their employment aspects have changed since the beginning of the century. Examines what types of interventions were made and analyses factors contributing to the change. Studies the case of five subject cities (Tokyo, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok), which have succeeded in reducing drastically or eradicating slums.
