Meditation or mindfulness is a joy of conscious living. Everyone lives life but rarely are the masters who discover living consciously in Ananda's presence (permanent happiness), which is our true nature. It is easy to be different in the world but living consciously with true nature is rare among great masters. Living in permanent happiness is a joy conscious living. The mindful living from moment to moment is to work on the mind and use it as a perfect instrument and not as the master of life. But what the mind thinks is different from what it speaks and acts. Why do we think and speak and act differently? We often want to say differently from what we believe; we still act differently than we ever wanted to. It is because of some programming that is already done in mind. That programming contains impressions that push us to work when we don’t want to; that pulls us to speak when we never wanted to. For understanding as concepts, masters say that we are heavily conditioned culturally, socially, and habitually so much so that we have veiled our true nature. The mind’s intrinsic nature is Sattva, seeking knowledge and aspiring happiness. The great masters say that the mind naturally is calm, happy, at peace, and wise but forced to work in excitement, agitation, lethargies, and ignorance is when the mind does not work with its inherent nature, it works on us. The mind becomes our master. Because the mind is ignorant of our true nature, it causes suffering while thinking, speaking, and acting. It is clear that we are not the mind, but if the mind works on us, we become the mind; it causes stress and suffering in life. Meditation or mindfulness or any such similar practice aims at making the mind a perfect instrument. The choice lies within us; the journey is simple and easy. It is like tilling the field (of the mind), add fertilizer (point the mind towards such qualities that will make it a great seeker), water the field (make the mind soft and receptive to receive pea
