This is the te reo Maori translation of the award-winning playscript Purapurawhetu. At its heart is a story of loss and grief: Hohepa is driven to despair by the long-ago death of his baby son; and the once thriving marae is in decline. Woven around this are themes of dispossession, struggles for leadership, the lasting effects of wrong-doing, and ultimately, the journey to forgiveness and healing.
