About the Author Associate Professor Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science Programme Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India Dr. Kamal K. Kar joined Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur on 31st January 2001, where he is an Associate Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science Programme. Before joining IIT-Kanpur, he was a Post Doctoral Research Associate at Iowa State University, USA, where he worked for the Polymer Engineering and Research Group on the Rheology and Processing of Polymers during 1991 and 2001. He was a DST-BOYSCAST Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Dr. Kar is an active researcher in the area of Nanostructured Materials, Nanocomposites, Functionally Graded Materials, Nanopolymers, and Smart Materials for structural, Energy and Biomedical Applications. His research works have been recognized through the office of Indian Science Congress Association, Indian National Academy of Engineering, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Human Resource and Development National Leather Development Programme, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Defence Research and Development Organisation, Indian Space Research Organization, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Biotechnology, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Aeronautical Development Establishment, Aeronautics Research and Development Board, Defence Materials and Stores Research and Development Establishment, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, etc. He has been invited to serve as an Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Sciences, Member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Plastic Technology and International Journal of Clinical Rehabilitative Tissue Engineering Research (CRTER), and Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Journal of Recent Patents on Electrical Engineering, Journal of Re
