For some people religion is sacrosanct. For others, religion is abominable. In this volume, Jim Fowler attempts to expose the human manufactured elements of religion (particularly Christian religion), without “throwing the baby out with the bathwater.” Identifying “religion” as the performance accoutrements that mankind through the centuries has attached to the gospel of Jesus Christ, Jim (sometimes sarcastically) differentiates between reception of the Spirit of Christ in those who become Christ-ones and the peripheral performances of religion that have been glommed on to the simplicity of the Christian faith. Believing that all things are derived from a spiritual source of either God or Satan, Jim identifies religion as “the devil’s playground.” Writing in the same thematic genre as C.S. Lewis’ Screwtape Letters, religion is viewed as the Satanic machinations that counter and counterfeit the spiritual reality of the indwelling life of Jesus Christ in his Christ-ones, i.e., Christians.
