As a first priority for their book-length dialogue the eminent economist Lawrence J. Lau and Buddhist thinker and leader Daisaku Ikeda engage in a remarkably non-ideological and lucid discussion of the financial challenges and opportunities of our time. These discussions are rounded out by conversations focused on the attributes of successful, humanistic higher education, a topic of intimate knowledge and concern for both, with Ikeda having founded two universities and Lau having served for many years as Vice Chancellor of CUHK. For Lau and Ikeda, prosperity cannot be considered apart from the educational systems that mold our citizens.
