This book is a compilation of essays from students coming from countless backgrounds, many of which are historically underrepresented in the Western academic practice of science. Each chapter discusses language and cultural barriers to understanding Western science, what is public engagement in science, and what are ethical considerations scientists should make as people, whether the lab coat is on or off. These perspectives diminish the simplicity of making science "easy & fun" (hence our neologism, "unsimplify") in order to engage the public and challenge scientists, medical practitioners, journalists, and science educators to think more critically about who makes up "the public" that they serve.
