Jennifer Cahill is hired on at the Chicago Police department as a probationary officer, and she has never been more excited to be part of the force. Jennifer's Training Officer is Brenda Kennedy, who has a reputation as a great cop, and she and Jennifer hit it off right away. Brenda has a dark secret that only her family knows about, and she is doing everything she can to keep it that way. Brenda's career is in jeopardy after a drug bust goes down in a warehouse leased by The Emeralds, a criminal organization from Ireland growing roots in Chicago. Jennifer meets a handsome man by the name of Tommy Hogan at Molly McGuire's, a pub frequented by the local Police. Tommy's familiarity has Jennifer questioning what her gut is telling her, and she is starting to wonder what his connection is to whoever tried to kidnap her.
