Junkyard Books was established in 2001 in association with San Francisco's late, great Bearded Lady Cafe. It is owned and run by women aiming to publish queer authors.Each of the fifteen pieces in Lowdown Highway relates to the theme of?transportation.? It includes short stories, excerpts from longer works in progress, and poetry - even haiku! Among the contributors are local and national spoken-word heros, veterans of the legendary dyke spoken-word tour, Sister Spit, filmmakers and visual artists, many of whom have never been previously published.
