Image analysis is a fundamental tool in a number of scientific disciplines, with applications ranging from remote sensing to the scanning of medical images. At the heart is the need to be able to process graphical data quickly, accurately, & efficiently. Morphology, which arose as a theory of shape, is the basis on which image analysis is founded. This book is mainly oriented toward the practice, that is implementation & applications of morphology, & is the first to concentrate on the algorithmic aspects of the subject. The algorithms are described in full & written in pseudo-code so that they can be implemented with little effort in any language, which in itself is a valuable resource for scientists working in image analysis.
