"When my daughter was born in 1984, I realized she was not developing like my other four children had. There was definitely 'something not quite right' but I had no idea what that something was. She was diagnosed as mildly mentally handicapped but when she was 9, she was given the label of autism. Many years later, she was also diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome with a little OCD and PTSD thrown in for good measure. There are many books available with therapies, diets and a few magical 'cures.' What I always looked for and never found, was a view of day-to-day life with an individual with these labels.
