There is no joy in an illusion, whether it concerns the fire of animosity or love’s deep devotion; it is the ardent truth that endows happiness. It is the summer of 1811, and Elizabeth is in town to aid Mrs Gardiner through her confinement when an embarrassing mishap introduces her to Miss Darcy and her officious brother. Mr Darcy deems his sister at the most trying age after the vicar of Kympton, Mr Wickham, had to save her from making a grave mistake in Ramsgate. Brother Dearest is a chaste novella of approximately 40,000 words and was written for CoWriMo, raising money to fight COVID-19. This work of fiction is created entirely from the author’s imagination.
