No Greater Love - Volume II: Music presents seventeen songs that take the audience deeply into what is going on in the characters' minds and hearts when confronted with events such as an out-of-control, underground mine fire or the poignancy of the moment a child learns that her father is not coming back. The musical was premiered on June 9-10, 2017, the 100th anniversary of the fire to commemorate the disaster's victims, their families and to celebrate the heroes that rose from the smoke and ashes to inspire others to live. One such hero was a young miner named Manus Duggan. His undaunted courage and ability to remain clear-headed in the midst of the chaos caused by suffocating smoke and complete blackness a mile deep in the Granite Mountain Mine of Butte, Montana, led him to save the lives of some 28 miners. The heat of the mine fire pressed Duggan to lead in dire circumstances and forged Butte's character while galvanizing a community. The script introduces readers to many unique characters that roamed the streets of Butte and worked in the mine. Gummy, whose character was based on a well-known Town Crier of 1917 Butte, introduces the audience to Madame McGinnis, a Madame of a local brothel. Jimmy arrives in town and plans to work in the mines to provide income to attend college someday. The charming Zoe arrives from North Dakota only to discover that the only job she can land is as a prostitute at McGinnis's brothel. You will meet Manus's young pregnant wife, Madge, who has a prescient feeling about Manus going to work the night the fire broke out.
