C. Hall. "the year i860 begins, thank God, prosperously. We are settled in a new house.1 Notwithstanding my legal losses and expenses I still have money, and am absolutely better off than before. Literature seems to promise more, my last book having been successful." Then the Old Man of the Sea, the lawsuit, is spoken of, and he continues: --"In Ireland we still hope to conquer, and possibly the worst is over here. During the past year we have had many opportunities of leading a quieter life, and had manifold and visible blessings, for which God be praised. Amen."
