Survey of Australian airmen serving in British Bomber Command during World War II. As highly trained members of an elite corps they repeatedly flew in bombing raids performing under extreme pressure - 4,000 Australians died in Bomber Command. Descibes crash landings and homecomings, and questions the morality and legacy of the bombing campaigns. Includes photos, endnotes, bibliography and index. Author is Professor of History at the Australian National University.
