A comprehensive collection of works and projects by Asymptote, a New York-based architectural firm, established in the early 1990s by Hany Rashid and Lise Anne Couture. Projects by Asymptote travel the complicated and difficult border that divides the virtual world from the real one, often defining new frontiers. Some of these projects include the creation of a new digital space for the New York Stock Exchange and the making of a virtual museum for the Guggenheim. The book opens with Asymptote installations designed for well-known collectors and modern art museums located in the United States and Northern Europe. The second part of the book discusses recent proposals and some contests for museums and public spaces in New York. The final section is devoted to Asymptote design projects, especially the office design module studied for Kartell, the company leader in furniture and accessories for the house and office.
