When Persephone is kidnapped by Hades, king of the Underworld, her mother Demeter, the Goddess of Earth, plunges the world into a deep winter. Spring returns when Persephone is released but she has eaten three pomegranate seeds and so must return to the Underworld for three months of every year. A retelling of the ancient Greek myth. Suggested level: junior, primary.
