In collaboration with Piper's widow, who gave free access to his studio, the author discusses the artist's chronological development, his techniques, and the religious imperatives behind much of the work. The volume reproduces Piper's important text Stained Glass: Art or Anti-Art (1968) and provides a full list of his designs in stained glass with notes on their composition, setting, and theme.
