This book teaches the interpretation of emergency x-rays through a page-turning detective story: The story takes place at Silicon Valley University of Evolutionary Computation (SUEC), a University in a secluded location in the hills above Redwood City, California. While SUEC university is a fictional place, details of the story remind the reader of possible events and interactions at real life universities, which are both enlightening and entertaining to read. Evolutionary computation is an area of computer sciences that uses principles from biological evolution to solve computational problems. In the story, SUEC researchers developed brain-chip-interfaces, which exponentially enhance human brain capacity. Two trainees steel newly developed brain chips at SUEC University which leads to a series of events, including fifteen major injuries, five hospitalizations and four deaths. Dr. Lili Pham, radiologist at SUEC hospital, and an FBI investigator team start a race against time to rescue a young student from a ruthless killer, retrieve a national treasure and prevent an implosion of the most eminent University in the world. The seemless integration of x-ray diagnoses of bone fractures and their differential diagnoses into the story leads to an effortless educational component for healthcare workers. Main characters of the story are named after named fractures and encounter these named fractures at some point in the story (e.g. Dr. Bennett develops a Bennett fracture). This increases the anticipation and entertaining component of the story, while also leaving a memorable anchor to remember these fractures in real life.
