This book will provide substantial development in the area of tetrazole and benzimidazole syntheses, number of new catalysts used in synthesis (Ag, Cr and Se). These approaches have additional advantages over other excising methods and will certainly provide the new avenue in the synthesis of substituted tetrazoles and benzimidazoles. Because of its potential application in various fields especially in medicinal chemistry, it is a useful pharmacophore. We have reported silver nitrate and chromium chloride as highly efficient, one-pot, convenient catalyst for the synthesis of substituted tetrazoles via the [3+2] cycloaddition by refluxing various substituted nitriles and sodium azide in DMF in good to excellent yields. We have also reported silver nanoparticles and SeO2 a non transition metal based Lewis acid catalyst as efficient and convenient catalysts for the same purpose.
