Author Description

Panny, the central character of "BFE," is 14, Asian-American, and feels a misfit among her Anglo classmates. For her birthday, her mother offers Panny cosmetic surgery. Set in Arizona; the title is an abbreviation of a vulgar slang term for the middle of nowhere.
