
A black woman's attempt to be modern by cutting loose from her family is foiled by the ghosts of her ancestors. Grace Broussard of Los Angeles gives up her religion, stops eating her mother's gumbo and becomes a lesbian, but the ghosts convince her of the error of her ways.
