Welcome to Nirvana, Texas, Dear Reader, home of young Jesse Alan Bradley. Jesse has a problem. He went to school an eight-year-old boy and came home a sixteen-year-old … well, something else. He has no memory of the last eight years. His family has already written him off for dead, or worse. When he shows up at the breakfast table nearly eight years to the day of his disappearance his mother and father are justifiably skeptical that he is truly their son returned to them at last. Then there’s the weird strength. Jesse is extraordinarily strong for a boy of his age, size, and build, native Texan, or not. Toss in his apparent ability to learn things almost instantaneously from simply reading a book on a given subject, and those around him are decidedly nervous about whether or not he’s their Jesse. Oh, and there’s that pesky mind-reading thing. Unfortunately for Jesse, his family, friends, and the entire town of Nirvana, an extremely ruthless black ops alphabet agency gets wind of Jesse’s exploits and decides to capture and dissect him in order to examine his squishy parts and find out how he does the things he does. Unknown to them, however, is that Nirvana was founded around Robert E. Lee Military Academy, and practically everyone residing there is either a former graduate or the parent of a current or former cadet. In short, Nirvana is a Survivalist town and practically every family has a state-of-the-art underground bunker in the back forty. So, when the Agency comes calling and making trouble, the citizens of Nirvana aren’t really interested in taking $#!& off some government wet work operatives. Before the agents realize what they’ve stepped in Jesse’s friends and fellow ROTC grunts open a can of whoop@$$ on them. Clandestine types don’t really appreciate that, of course, and they send in reinforcements— Enjoy, Wallace Beery
