As an independent ten year old boy, Rembrandt travels alone by bus to visit his grandparents where he soon begins to learn secrets concerning the forces of nature along with a few family secrets. Granddad discloses his special abilities and reveals that one day Rembrandt will possess the same abilities, but more importantly, he will raise a son with abilities far surpassing those of his own. He soon learns the secrets he believes were implemented to construct the great pyramids of Egypt, Stonehenge, the Coral Castle and many previously unexplained phenomena. Unable to reveal his special abilities, he fails to see their purpose. Later he meets Allyson, the young woman he's sure will be his lifelong love, but a draft notice changes his plans. While in the military, a life-threatening situation forces his decision to reveal one of his telekinetic powers. Although he denies causing the incident, he is unable to convince government officials he has no special powers and it results in intelligence agents watching him the remainder of his life. Considered to have a little above average intelligence, Rembrandt's mathematical aptitude far surpasses the norm. Although he originally makes a living as an accountant, an accidental encounter with his first love inspires him to write a novel and its success allows him the freedom to travel extensively. Years later, another unexpected encounter with Allyson and her family begin to reveal the real purpose for his special abilities.
