The collapse of Enron Corp. on Dec. 2, 2001, devastated thousands of its employees, many of whom lost not only their jobs but also their retirement savings, as well as investors who watched the value of their investment accounts evaporate. Enron's collapse was particularly shocking and problematic in part because of its size -- it was then ranked as the 7th-largest corp. in Amer. -- and in part because of apparent widespread fraud underlying its collapse. This volume contains 2 reports by the U.S. Senate Governmental Affairs Committee: (1) Enron's Credit Rating: Enron's Bankers' Contacts with Moody's and Government Officials; and (2) Fishtail, Bacchus, Sundance, and Slapshot: 4 Enron Transactions Funded and Facilitated by U.S. Financial Institutions.
