This is a story about a young man who wanted 'to belong' who took the wrong turn with the wrong boys. Author, Mel Smith, former 30 year veteran lawman, will take you on a journey seen through the eyes of the young man, as well as law enforcement. Like many fine officers, Smith tried to keep young people from getting criminal records, a very few did not. You'll get into the heart and soul of this young man, learn of his survival skills taught to him by his best friend, Snake Woman, who lived in the dense forest along the water of Black Water River. You'll see why the hunters referred to him as 'mist in the pines'. You think you see him, but when you get there, you can only feel his presence. You can't see him. You can't hear him. You can't find him. You'll travel down the road of mischief turned criminal, as he repeatedly loses his way in life. It's all there; arson, imprisonment, bank robbery, escape, chase, survival, betrayal, and ultimately murder.
