This short history of the Australian Literacy Educators' Association (ALEA) formerly the Australian Reading Association (ARA), is intended to celebrate the professional activities of a national association over four decades. This history was commissioned in 2005 to mark the thirtieth anniversary. The history has been structured in five-year segments. [p. 3, ed].
