GAZE OUT ACROSS the American landscape. What do you see? A desert is rapidly encroaching, swallowing up American productivity and our treasured independence. What's worse, this expanding desert is devouring the American spirit-a spirit once fed by the Word of God, but now feeding from the trough of narcissistic hedonism, covetousness, and a me-centered approach to all of life that kills joy and hope. God's Word, spoken, written, proclaimed and taught carries the only true hope for a restored American future. In these darkening times, God is not silent. Much like in the days of John the Baptist, God is today calling for repentance and a return to His Word. As we follow and obey, we build a highway in the desert-a road upon which Christ can come and reshape and reinvigorate our dying landscape.
