
A detailed study of the architecture early in the viceroyalty with emphasis on architecture and construction of monasteries in Mexico. By way of illustration the book shows some representative convents, later earthquakes and their effects on these buildings, the structural evolution of the convent buildings and finally an analysis of criteria, techniques and conservation programs convents. This publication shows that the importance of these buildings goes beyond the quality of its architecture but also in the development of forms and construction techniques with their own identity and even in what was the transition from pre-Hispanic society in the colonial.
