Public procurement of goods, services or works significantly promotes sustainable development and drives green innovation globally. While ensuring that public money is invested in such a way that the nation is able to achieve a long-term benefit, sustainable innovations in public procurement are an effort to use the buying power to procure either work, supply or services and at the same time, achieve value for money by minimizing environmental harm, benefitting the society and spur the innovations within the industry. However, there is little evidence on how sustainable innovations in Malaysia’s public procurement are encouraged to achieve Target 12.7 of the nation’s Sustainable Development Goals agenda. The outcomes in this book aims to address a more profound understanding of the challenges faced by Malaysia’s public sector, the factors that drive the organizations to incorporate sustainable innovations criteria in their public procurement process and subsequently contribute to a framework that can enhance the participation of all organizations in the public sector to achieve the national policy objective on sustainability. This book illustrates a method to obtain in-depth explanations and rich, descriptive and meaningful contextualization within Malaysia’s public organizations. The findings show that Malaysia’s public organizations have started implementing multiple dimensions of sustainable innovations with the highest concentration on social criteria. At the same time, the challenges identified in the book are divided into four stakeholders group; namely the government (lack of policy enforcement and monitoring), organizations (high product/ service price with limited budget allocation), employees (low level of knowledge and awareness) and supplier (limited sustainable products availability). Furthermore, the findings discover institutional pressures through coercive (policy enabler), mimetic (capacity building) and normative (ease of certification process). Pr
