During the Middle Ages, Plato's thought constituted, for Christian thought, one of the fundamental pillars in the configuration of the conception of the world of this time and, consequently, in the aesthetic ideas of medieval thinkers and, therefore, in the construction of artistic works. In the Platonic schools of philosophy, the demiurge is an artisan-like god figure responsible for fashioning and maintaining the physical universe, whose creation of kosmos, that is, harmony of the world, is a perfect, beautiful, artistic work. In his cosmological thought, as presented in his dialogue Timaeusʺ, Plato insists on presenting the world as a work of art and the Demiurge or god as an artist, craftsman, as a designer who harmonizes the world, as any Greek craftsman or artist does when creating a sculpture, a painting, some amphora or any other artistic work.
