The unfolding of geologic thought and theory as it is applied to the Pacific Northwest is unique. In that regard, the authors of "Geology of the Pacific Northwest" were motivated to produce a book that explains the role of tectonic plate movements and particularly accretionary events as fundamental processes of northwest geologic history.
