Harry Little and his brothers Alf and Cliff emigrated to Renmark from Devon, England in 1892, motivated by the desire "to do better in the colonies than in the old country".The diaries were précised by Harry's son Reg and tell the story of how their family and other pioneers succeeded or failed in an experiment to introduce irrigation to Australia and started by the Chaffey brothers in Renmark South Australia.
