The Anytime Korean Textbook Series is interactive and engaging learning material. The series provides powerful practices for acquiring conversation skills in Korean, fast from the beginning, through carefully designed systematic learning steps grounded in pedagogic research that is proven most effective. In the program, learners can practice Korean via various platforms including print, a website, and mobile app devices. The series and the accompanying audios, videos, and mobile application help learners build hands-on communication skills in Korean through an integrated practice of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Anytime Korean Beginning 1 aims to provide a solid foundation in Korean, including Hangeul (the Korean Alphabet), high-frequency vocabulary, common sentence patterns, and speakers daily communication skills. An emphasis is placed on the ability to apply the target expressions and associated functions in various encounters in life. Each lesson of the book consists of two major sections. The first section includes model conversation, vocabulary, expressions practice, and culture. These serve as the building blocks for the next sequence, a conversation-oriented language application practice set. The second practice set includes three-part application exercises: listen & discuss, guided conversation, and spontaneous conversation. The content, procedures, and layout presented in this book resulted from the collaboration of the three authors experiences in teaching Korean for many years. Dialogues and examples in this book are based on and informed by conversational analysis research. The authors made attempts to reflect authentic language and culture throughout the book, and more importantly, to teach current Korean language use after receiving many requests from learners over the years. The model conversations in this edition best reflect contemporary Korean used by Korean native speakers in their 20s and 30s. While we did not refrain from including
