The TV documentary on the massacre of an undefended coastal village in central Vietnam forms the starting point for this study of perhaps the most hideous of all atrocities committed by the US Army in Vietnam. The incident, so heavily laundered by Nixon's government, is scrupulously re-examined to present an anatomy of this war-crime in the context of mid-century America.
