In his first book, William Pate offers a selection of essays spanning twenty years of writing. He examines the city of Austin, love, short-term rentals, sleeping with friends, obsessive-compulsive disorder and more. Some pieces were previously published on his online journal, "an examination of free will," at www.inadequate.net. His work has previously been published in The New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, the Austin American-Statesman, the San Antonio Express-News, The Rivard Report and elsewhere.
