Author Description

Regi Cherini's work is a playful meditation on contemporary womanhood. An acknowledgement and companionable shout-out to the single ladies, with each embroidery depicting, through still life arrangements, an aspect of single life. These vary from the public (shopping list items and handbag contents from a night on the town) to the private (a sex toy, or the plans for a Saturday night at home, in the form of tea, Tim Tams and television). The deliberate emphasis and meticulous depiction of each object offering a relatable commentary, at times humorous, sincere, personal and unapologetic; contemporary life in miniature.This publication accompanies the exhibition, All the Single Ladies, held at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery, Townsville, 27 November 2020 - 7 February 2021
