
Considers the emergence and evolution of the East Asia Summit against the backdrop of trends in East Asian regionalism. While the EAS is proving to be a major pillar of the emergent regional architecture, it is still confronted by several major challenges arising out of three unresolved tensions in East Asian regionalism: between inclusive and exclusive regionalism, between process and membership, and between ASEAN centrality and major power leadership.
