Author Description

This a history of judo from ancient pre-historic times up to its development as a modern worldwide Olympic sport. It is based on translations from Japanese by the author from various sources such as Japanese history, Budo history, jujitsu, kumi-uchi, kenjitsu, sumo etc and it places judo firmly in the turbulent history of the world and Japan in the 19th and 20th centuries.
