Author Description

A record of the Fall 2009 International PUARL Symposium at the University of Oregon in Portland, presented by the Department of Architecture and the Portland Urban Architecture Research Laboratory, "Current Challenges for Patterns, Pattern Languages and Sustainability." The event gathered original authors of A Pattern Language Sara Ishikawa, Murray Silverstein, Max Jacobson, and Ingrid King, along with a host of academics and professionals, to evaluate the use of the pattern language approach in architectural design. This publication collects presentations and transcriptions from the event and essays on contemporary applications of pattern languages in architecture.
