This is a report of an investigation into the literacy expectations of four universities and the ways in which students meet, or fail to meet them. Edith Cowan University (ECU) undertook to investigate the ways in which Aboriginal students participate in the literacy events of the university. The study was conducted at two campuses of ECU where it has involved consenting Aboriginal students and the staff who work with them. [p.2].
