
Presents the findings of an action research project at Engawala, conducted over an eighteen month period using a variety of partcipatory methods; purpose was to understand resources flows in Engawala and the extent to which they influence the long-term viability of remote desert settlements; Sustainable Livelihood Frameworks was the theoretical basis to the analysis; this model holds that even the most disadvantage people have assets, and that these resources shuld be seen as the basis of recovery or development [see p. ix].
