This publication accompanies the New England Triennial 2022, an exhibition featuring the work of a diverse and ambitious group of artists who are based across the six states of the Northeast - Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The exhibition and publication foreground the recent creative output of twenty-five artists and registers the creativity and resilience of those who have been working during these challenging and transformational times. This publication features a lead curatorial essay that introduces tendencies in contemporary art today, including the prevalence of ancestral knowledge and kinship; ruins and decay; alchemical transmutations; visualization of data; and intimate attachments to the natural world. Individual statements about the twenty-five Triennial artists follow. Since 1989, the New England Triennial (formerly known as the deCordova New England Biennial) has been a mainstay of deCordova's programming and mission, exemplifying the museum's commitment to the region's contemporary art. For the first time, this exhibition and publication cycle span two museum venues, deCordova and Fruitlands, expanding the platform for this highly anticipated survey of artmaking in New England. The 25 artists are: Elizabeth Atterbury (Maine), Sascha Braunig (Maine), Edwige Charlot (Rhode Island), Ann Craven (Maine), David Antonio Cruz (Massachusetts), Furen Dai (Massachusetts), Jeremy Frey (Maine), Brenda Garand (Vermont), Shaina Gates (New Hampshire), Merik Goma (Connecticut), Kate Greene (Maine), Harry Gould Harvey IV (Massachusetts), Meena Hasan (Massachusetts), Jarrett Key (Rhode Island), Baxter Koziol (Maine), Heather Lyon (Maine), Jodie Mack (Vermont), Anina Major (Rhode Island), Marla McLeod (Connecticut), Elle Pérez (Massachusetts), Estefania Puerta (Vermont), Allison Maria Rodriguez (Massachusetts), Em Rooney (Massachusetts), Michelle Segre (Massachusetts), Nafis M.
