In this annual report, Traffic Safety Facts 1996: A Compilation of Motor Vehicle Crash Data from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System and the General Estimates Systems, the National Highway Traffic Safety administration (NHTSA) presents information from two data systems [Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) and National Automotive Sampling System/General Estimates System (GES)} to create a single source of motor vehicle crash statistics about traffic crashes of all severities, from those that result in property damage to those that result in the loss of human life.
