About the Author Crispin Gallegher Sartwell is an American philosophy professor, journalist, and the author of several books. He received a BA from the University of Maryland, MA from Johns Hopkins University, and PhD from the University of Virginia. Currently a member of the faculty of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, he lives in rural Pennsylvania. John Lachs is Centennial Professor of Philosophy at Vanderbilt University. A recipient of the Herbert Schneider Award for Lifetime Contributions to American Philosophy, he is the author of Intermediate Man, In Love with Life, Mind and Philosophers, and A Community of Individuals, among others.
