About the Author John Fiske Brown holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University (1957) and an MSME from San Diego State University (1969). From 1957 to 1969 he was employed by various firms in Southern California, including the Convair Division of General Dynamics and TRW Systems. In 1969 he accepted a position on the faculty of Acadia University In Canada. As an associate professor engineering, his courses included instruction in laboratory techniques and technical report writing. This book is the result of notes originally written for this purpose.
