One of the most exciting developments in genealogical research is access to births, marriages and deaths on CD-Rom and over the internet. Bureaus of Vital Records are placing indexes as well as digitalized facsimiles of certificates on their websites. No longer are we wholly dependent on a clerk's capacity to recognize spelling variants of surnames unfamiliar to them. This new book lists nearly 100 vendors who offer vital records electronically. It describes 140 databases with address, phone, fax, E-mail, and website information. The author also provides an up-to-date state chart: state; date when births, marriages, deaths and divorces were first recorded; and which official state vital records are on-line.
