Resource book for Year 9 to 12 secondary school English teachers. Consists of background information for teachers and photocopiable activity sheets for students to work on in small discussion groups. Contemporary picture story books are used in each of the 23 units to explore concepts of modern literary theory such as the concept of ideology, the distinction between 'story' and 'discourse', and the notions of focalisation, intertextuality and metafiction. The editors have both lectured at university level and written books on teaching English.
