Second edition of original 1966 publication completely revised, augmented and re-illustrated by the author who is a staff member of the Royal Commission for Ancient Monuments for Scotland. In successive chapters the author describes the pre-reformation churches and the castles and tower-houses that are characteristic of Scotland. He goes on to cover early classicism, Georgian and Victorian achievement.
