This manifesto is a bold move towards altering our perception of people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and similar conditions. The author triangulates social beliefs with medical terminology of brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s to make a compelling argument that change can only come about if we alter the way that we use language. She calls upon us all to reconceptualise dementia by: abolishing the word dementia and adopt Amelesia stop saying that the people with mental decline are not the person they used to be rethink the concept of time and space in the human mind learn to communicate with Amelesians. Mina is a former linguist who brings her linguistic skills to the art of conversation with people living with Alzheimer’s and similar diseases.
